In June 2004, ASICON received an assignment from eldith GmbH (Ilmenau, Germany - for further information, click the logo above), a young spin-off of Technische Universitaet Ilmenau, to look for possibilities for marketing their EEG feedback devices in Japan. ASICON immediately started investigations in several ways and reported the results to eldith GmbH. Having introduced eldith's products to leading Japanese researchers in the biofeedback and neurophysiological field, ASICON organized eldith's participation in two exhibitions at scientific congresses in September / October 2004, of which latter was managed completely by ASICON. As ASICON Tokyo Office had already arranged meetings with Japanese neurologists and therapists prior to the exhibitions, there was not only the possibility to explain eldith's devices but also to discuss ways of actual cooperation. Today, demonstration devices of eldith are being used at two research labs of leading researchers in the fields of neurology and pediatrics in long-term test phases. Additionally, ASICON was successful in providing eldith with contacts to potential Japanese distribution companies and co-ordinated the respective negotiation process. As a result, one of the companies, Miyuki Giken Co., Ltd.), signed a distribution contract with eldith in February 2005. Believing that good partnership between single companies leads to new investments and adds new jobs, the STC ASICON is also fostering collaborations with regional bodies both in Germany and Japan. Examples are the Tochigi Prefecture Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan, Heidelberg Technology Park, City of Duesseldorf, and others. |
